I’m doing it my way to help people on the autism spectrum.
A couple of years ago, I attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the most weight squat lifted in one hour. The world record is 57,717kg. I lifted around 56,000kg... close though no cigar.
I said at the time that I would never attempt this challenge again. Missing out though has been nagging at me and I'm keen to have another attempt. I commenced training again in earnest around Christmas 2024 and, with a few small tweaks, think I am in with a shot of finally achieving my goal.
The primary purpose of this challenge however was to raise funds for Aspect South Coast School, who is an organisation very dear to my heart. My eldest son Callum attended an Aspect primary school and it made an enormous difference to him and our whole family.
I was extremely grateful for the support I received during the first attempt, and will be equally grateful for any support on the second (and I hope final!) attempt.
Record or no record, Aspect is an extremely high quality organisation. I am certain that all contributions will be put to great use in assisting people on the autism spectrum.
