Shining bright for Autism
Autism is something very personal and so important to me. It is a condition that is near and dear to my heart. As a mother of an ASD adult son, a grandmother of 3 ASD non verbal and developmental delay granbabies and as a teacher of high school children in a support unit for over 18 years it means absolutely everything to me that we raise awareness, acceptance, empathy, compassion and pure love, kindness and joy for those who are living life on the spectrum. This year our light display is our first and I know that it will continue to grow and grow each and every year. The ‘Dilly Manor’ is a special and safe space for all of our ASD children, grandchildren or relatives, friends or neighbors to come by take a look at our little lights display and return next year to see our growth. Let’s all make a real difference and light up and shine bright for all living life on the spectrum. As a mother and grandmother, an educator for special needs children it’s so important that we advocate and show them how much we love, respect, value and support each and every single one of them. I know this year my 2 year old ASD non verbal granbaby is going to be so excited to see all of the lights, the colours, the twinkling ✨ will without a doubt put the greatest smile on his beautiful little face and for me that is precious and priceless. I don’t ever use the word disability i prefer abilities because each and every single one of those on the spectrum has something unique and special about them. They are incredibly beautiful and inspiring and being a part of their world is an absolute privilege and honour. I’ve set a goal to raise money for such a special and worthy cause, I hope that I can achieve this but if the target is not met at least our display is still shining bright for everyone living life on the spectrum.I’m shining bright for autism
This Christmas, I’m shining bright for the estimated 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum.
Join me in celebrating the magic of giving and donate to my Shine for Autism fundraiser today!
People on the autism spectrum see, hear, feel and experience the world differently, and their unique perspectives bring creativity, insight and depth to our communities.
By coming together and lending our support, we can help provide opportunities for people on the autism spectrum to participate, engage and thrive in the world around them.
Let's come together, one light at a time, and make this festive season truly special.
